So…this here blogging the Aussie Open has sucked and failed, no?? Oh well….I’ll give you WTA QFist numbers to cheer yis all up…..

In this years Quarterfinals, we have 2 Americans, 2 Chinese (a first in Grand Slam History), 2 Russians, 1 Belgian and 1 Belarussian. Between them they have played 2235 points and 582 games. They have also hit 792 Winners and 863 Unforced Errors…and there’s still 3 more rounds to go!!

Now for some individual stats:

198 KMH:

The fastest serve hit in the women’s tourney so far…by this lady above me…she’s also the only player in the men’s or women’s event to not be broken!! Scary!!

0:

The number of aces served by Jie Zheng…she also has the highest first serve percentage of any woman left, serving 77% of first serves…however the amount of points she has won behind it doesn’t even put her in the top 20….hmmmmm

25:

The number of Double Faults served by Justine Henin…the most out of any player…I thought she was meant to have improved her serve??

24:

The number of Break Points won by Na Li…again the most in the tourney…she also has the best Break Point Conversion percentage of any QFist, 69% (24 of 35)…quite the returning machine Na Li….she’s only served one ace…maybe the Chinese don’t like them??? Another interesting number related to Li is 3, the number of winners Caroline Wozniacki hit against her in their 4th round match…gotta start hitting some Caro…

4:

The number of Bagels served by Vika, the most of any QFist I believe, and one per round…girl seems to be getting back some form again…

9:

The number of games in Makiri’s win over Dinara Safina…the only retirement in the entire women’s event…these girls seem good and healthy….except for Dinara of course….poor Mario…

1:

The number of games dropped by Nadia Petrova in her third round drubbing of Kim Clijsters, the most one sided scoreline for any of the QFists…coincidentally…the most onesided scoreline of the tourney was a Double Bagel by MJMS served to Rodina :(

539:

Apparently, the number of matches (including these 4 rounds) that Venus Williams has won in her career…by a long way the most of any QFist….you can tell she has no cool stat right?? :P

Anyway…I hope you have enjoyed this little maths lesson…and before you come on and slate my spreadsheet abilities…all my numbers came from the AO website…so blame it on them!!!!!! :P

Maybe people should protest more at here events??…Cos Shahar Peer is playing pretty amazing this week….through to the semi’s now…she was completely untouchable in the first set…bagelling Makiri with ease…the second however…she lost her way…but after that blip she again went back to untouchable….

Her play over the last few months has been great considering her lacklustre performances from late 2007 onwards…and she has a style of play I really like….

Makiri was as gorgeous as ever though….youd totes downey her junior….

She’s really sticking it to the Aussie Open committee for not giving it a WC aint she???…..since her first round she’s dropped 8 games….Wicky is on a mission…

Photo 1 - AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - JANUARY 07: Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan ... Getty Images

Sadly in her sticking it to the proverbial man…..she took out newly realised Jackofave Kimiko Date Krumm…..i hope she has a good season…she has such a cool game….

I think i’ve run out of words to describe this sheer Awesome….

Just 3 games dropped against Domi…in her usual Sex Fashion

Youd totes downey her junior too…

Pray for mercy….from PUMPOVIC!!!

Ana Ivanovic of Serbia celebrates her 6-2, 7-6 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in their quarterfinal match at the Brisbane International t

She now wins in straight sets….which means fists are flying….now in fairness….i’m not one to say no to a good fisting  …..but at times its just annoying……but fair play…when was the last time she even made a semi????

Photo 1 - BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA - JANUARY 07: Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of R... Getty Images

Credit to Pavs though….she did come back from 5/2 in the second to force a TB….and I love the way this new Babolat deal means she wears new clothes every match (is it even a babolat deal?)

The other proverbial IT advanced to the semi’s too…..although Melinda Czink (when did she become good??) put up a great fight…coming back from 4/1 down in the third to get it to a Breaker….but atm, IT is not being denied….although if Pumps is back good she could make a challenge….

The Belgian #2 (behind Wicky)….also won a three setter…..a very WTF three setter….after sticking Lucie….Kim then went completely off the boil and was bagelled by Safs…..which lead a topsy turvy third which Kim managed to pull out after what seemed like a truck load of MPs….

Germany's Andrea Petkovic receives a shot during a match against Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia in the Brisbane International tennis tournament in Bri

*sigh* Trust it to be Dani to be the only person *upset* in the quarterfinals…and after playing so well….still, Hillary Swank plays a good game for someone only entering their first full season this year (and she already has made two finals…winning one too!!)….watch out for her in 2010!!

Bepa and Van Grichen’s debut together went well…with Bepa taking care of Ayumi Morita 2 and 2…most importantly…she doesn’t have any tape on…which I hope is a very good sign….

I’ve only seen her play once…but I like Ayumi…same as with a lot of the Asian players though….it’s a shame she’s a bit on the short side…

Zheng Jie of China returns a ball to Maria Sharapova of Russia during their match in the first day of the Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2010 Wednesday, Jan

WOW I love this outfit…in the secodn singles, Zheng put up a spirited fight against Maria…taking the first on a TB but just couldn;t keep up the intensity and lost 6/4 6/2 in the second and third…

It was cold…I wish I could see her serving stats…*thinks back to a time when Maria’s serve was a weapon*

Zheng Jie of China returns the ball to Maria Sharapova of Russia in the frist day of the Hong Kong Tennis Classic 2010 Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 in Hong

She’s so awesome…

So after the ladies singles….Kafelnikov (Replacing Marat who is having a whore run through Miami injured) and Srichapan (Yum!) faced off in the “oldies” mens match….which the sexy Thai won…..Which brought us to a doubles…..where Kafelnikov teamed up with Masha (the weaker doubles player?? Even if she’s down as the team’s number 1??)….against Zheng and Paradorn….and managed to win for a 3-1 win to Team Russia…

Tomoroday Team Europe play Team Americas…….where these two finally unite…

Flavia as usual…was BAMFing it UP!!!! :P Comfortably took CSN apart 2 and 2…I can’t see anything other than her winning this event actually….

Another BAMF today was Wicky….also 2 and 2ing Olaru….using a different racket from the one she used in her first round??? Oh Wicky…*scruffles hair*

In the only Photographed upset of the day (there were 3) Domi dispatched I-expected-to-do-well-from-winning-Bali Rezai fairly comfortably 3 and 4….

Domi was sporting some crazy leg tape…I hope it’s nothing serious….she’s just back from an annoying injury…

I know I’ve called her an emo clown…and everything in my moral fiber says I should hate it…but I seriously love this dress….particularly the skirt…*is ashamed*
*runs off in shame*

She’s just THAT Awesome…I only saw the first set…but it seems Dani is back playing good tennis again with this demolition of Szavay!!…Things started off kinda bad, losing the first 2 games after having chances…then, after holding for 2/1…Dani was up 0-30 on Szavay’s serve…when Agnes hit a CC backhand which looked blatantly out (it was)…only for the Chump (a New girl I don’t know) to decide it was IN AND that it was a WINNER???…Now Dani may not be the best mover…but i saw the replay at least 4 times…and she could definitely at least gotten a racket on it…she stopped because of the call!!!

Dani argued her case…but as usual Chumps think they’re always right, when they’re usually wrong…..Normally this would signal Dani meltdown…but what does she do on the next point?? HIT A FOREHAND RETURN WINNER!!!…Dani won the next 2 points and the game and she was ignited!! she then raced to a 5/2 lead (with more bad line calls) and from then on Agnes didn’t have a chance…I really think Dani could make the semi’s now…Darren Cahill seems to be working wonders with her…

She plays Hillary-Swankeque Andrea Petkovic tonight for a spot in the semis

WOW that’s scary…Pavs came back from a Sticking by Jackoteamer Veni Vidi Vinci to win 6/4 6/1 in the second and third…she now goes on to play Pumps in the quarters…they played in th semi’s on Indian Wells last year and Pumps won in straights….however…I have a feeling the result may be different this time around…..

Lucie “Eat a Sandwich” Safarova is also through to the quarters (weird, I know) beating Aleks Wozniak (who was SEEDED) 3 and 1….she plays Kim….nice knowing ya Lucie!! :)

Oh yeah…it won in straights over Karatantcheva to move to a quarterfinal against Seeded Melinda Czink :???:

Oh Pumpovic…how I’ve not missed you…it’s been a while…You still have to win a match in straights sets though…

JUST GO AWAY with that Malarkey!!

In reference to the awesome of MuzzRob’s adorable presser….

Some crazy protesters for the second year in a row at Auckland, decided they would protest about Shahar Pe’er playing there. What. The. Fuck?? Come On!! Is it Shahar’s fault she’s from Israel?? Is she responsible for the issues with Palestine?? No. She’s a tennis player. It’s her job. She plays it to make a living. You CAN’T stop her.

And how did Shahar respond to these protests??

BAM!! a 7/5 6/3 win over tricky Slovenian Polona Hercog. Shahar has balls I can tell you that!! :P *starts blatant rumour*

In the other photographed match, Cone magically beat Erakovic 6/4 6/3….and as per usual, her Conespressions were in full flight…

Oh Cone….don’t ever change…except for winning…do that!! :) …I almost forgot…

Kaia Kanepi won her first match in eight months…and it was an impressive one too!!!Beating second seed Nails 6/1 6/3!! She’ll next play Makiri…

Auckland Singles – First Round
Kaia Kanepi (EST) d. (2) Li Na (CHN) 61 63
(4) Francesca Schiavone (ITA) d. Stéphanie Cohen-Aloro (FRA) 62 63
(5) Virginie Razzano (FRA) d. (Q) Monica Niculescu (ROU) 75 64
(6) Elena Vesnina (RUS) d. Alberta Brianti (ITA) 61 64
Carla Suárez Navarro (ESP) d. (Q) Edina Gallovits (ROU) 64 75

Shahar Peer (ISR) d. Polona Hercog (SLO) 75 63
Alizé Cornet (FRA) d. (WC) Marina Erakovic (NZL) 64 63
Sania Mirza (IND) d. Stefanie Voegele (SUI) 57 61 75
Maria Kirilenko (RUS) d. Tatjana Malek (GER) 62 63

Ioana Raluca Olaru (ROU) d. (Q) Elena Baltacha (GBR) 62 62

Meanwhile in Perth…Sammy Stones showed us her inner gangsta in dispatching Melanie Oudini in straights…

Anyone beginning to notice Melanie hasn’t won a match in a while??

THAT ARM IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Hewitt beat Isner comfortably…Aussie won the tie…and despite the US getting some face winning the Doubles…they were knocked out of Hopman Cup 2010…

In the night session….the battle of the finalists in  my eyes, Romania-Spain…MJMS kept up her good form…beating Sorana  6/4 6/3….and Robredo is winning in his singles…so Spain look like the eventual finalists in my eyes…

But Sorana is still awesome…

Respect her Authority!!

I am the best Belgian at Brisbane”

Kim was impressive to say the least…6/0 6/3 against fellow comebacker, Alicia Molik. I know a score like this would probably be expected…

Alicia played well throughout…But Kim just played AMAZING…constantly hitting strong passes and at one point in the second set, scrambled to a great stop volley, to get over Alicia’s head…and after Alicia amazingly ran it down after it landed on the baseline…hit an amazing short volley winner from below the height of the net…Mama is feelin’ it 2k10 style…

While still remaining besties with EVERYONE on tour…

And in the only other result with pics…Andrea Petkovic came from a set down to comfortably beat Vania King…she scares me…but has got game…

(1) Kim Clijsters (BEL) d. (WC) Alicia Molik (AUS) 60 63
(7) Melinda Czink (HUN) d. Barbora Zahlavova Strycova (CZE) 63 26 61
Andrea Petkovic (GER) d. Vania King (USA) 46 62 61

As I type Pumps-Bacsinszky are just getting under way…

Meanwhile, over in Hong Kong…the Twitter BOMZ continued to be annoyingly Best Friends…It pains me that Caro can be so friendly and cutesy to even the likes of Vika…Gaaaaaaahh

It Begins…

It begins…7/5 7/5 win over Petrova…in an old outfit…my first thoughts…WTF is with that racket???!!!!!…Second thought…*gouges eyes out before having to see this season*

And probably more shocking news than Henin winning in her comeback…IVANOVIC WON A MATCH??!!!!…in an old dress (I’ll never let this go)…against JD in a new dress i liked…

These seem to be the only matches over at the ‘Bane that were photographed?? (Where’s Dani?) UPDATE: Here is ONE??

WTA Brisbane First Round 04-01-2010:

L Safarova d A Groenefeld 6/7 (5) 6/4 6/1

[6] A Wozniak d [Q] G Voskoboeva 6/2 6/2

[4] D Hantuchova d [Q] E Ivanova 6/1 6/7 (5) 6/1

A Szavay d S Peng 5/7 6/4 6/2

A Pavlyuchenkova d [5] A Kleybanova 6/4 2/6 6/2 (The first to fall from Jacko team…DAMN ALISA!! )

R Vinci d S Errani 6/4 2/6 6/2

T Bacsinszky d [Q] A Kudryavtseva 6/4 7/6 (3)

[3] A Ivanovic d J Dokic 7/5 1/6 6/3

[Q] S Karatantcheva d [W] C Dellacqua 6/2 0/6 7/6 (1)

[W] J Henin d [2] N Petrova 7/5 7/5

Over in Perth, Licky has ditched her weird hand strap thingie and was in fine fettle tearing Lena D  a part with a 6/4 6/1 drubbing in only 60 mins!!! Licky attributes it to all the extra work she put in on her serve and return in the last few weeks of the off season and a new emphasis on focus…FEAR her WTA!!

Unfortunately it couldn’t secure the win for Germany as Igor Andreev beat Kohlschreiber in a tight three set match before him and Lena D took a tight straight sets Mixed to clinch the encounter…

And in the evening session…Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan took down hyped Tim, Laura Robson 4/6 6/3 6/0. This again makes me question Robbo’s training…she seems to be able to play with the top girls for a set and a half…but then just can’t really keep up

In senior tennis, she’s 3-7 win-loss for 3 set matches (after one of those wins she retired in her next match) and she didn’t win a single 3 setter in 2009…now I know i’m being hard cos she’s still only 15 (maybe it’s cos she’s younger than me I hold a grudge)…but even in juniors fitness was one of her main problems…yet atm it doesn’t seem to be improving….

Anyways Murray just won his singles comfortably and the mixed will be starting soon…lets see how fast Laura can recover to be fit for this??
